SITE SELECTION AND CHARACTERIZATION

LiDAR technology can give comprehensive and accurate data for site selection and characterization of renewable energy projects. Detailed terrain models of a location captured through LiDAR helps in the assessment on whether a wind farm, solar panel or other types of renewable energy facility can be built there. This technology can accurately map the terrain elevation, slope, and other factors, which are critical for the determination of the optimal turbine or solar panel placement. Furthermore, LiDAR also has the capability to map vegetation which is useful when identifying potential obstructions that could impact energy production of the site.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

LiDAR systems can help generate comprehensive and accurate environmental impact assessments for renewable energy projects. By capturing detailed topographic data, LiDAR can help studies on landscape changes and visual impacts associated with the placement of wind farms, solar panels, hydroelectric plants, and other renewable energy facilities.
